What Happened to Daniel?

  • Don’t Follow the Wolf!

Ok, I’m done, I’m out, and I’m certainly never going to Loggerheads again. A literature professor from Aberystwyth got back to me. He sent me the only surviving verse of poetry from Hywel Ap Evan:

    Dilyn y blaidd
    Ymuno â’r praidd
    Gwrthod byd y frân
I’r byd o dan byddwch yn cropian

I put this through Google translate and here is the result:

    Follow the wolf
    Join the flock
Reject the world of the crow
Into the world below you will crawl

This is almost exactly what Nicholas Ross said the soon to disappear boy told him. I’ve always been incredibly sceptical about stuff like this. Not anymore. I’m going to discontinue this blog and move as far away from North Wales as I possibly can.

  • Hywel ap Evan

I revisited Benjamin’s house and asked him what he thought might be behind these strange disappearances. He showed me a photocopy of an article from the Daily Courant. The article was dated 07/08/1759.

So there was a local poet who worked in the lead mine called Hywel ap Evan. He was sacked from the mine for practicing dark magic. Soon after he and twenty locals all disappeared. The villagers and mine workers were rightly up in arms. Could there possibly be some connection between this and the other cases?

I did a search for Hywel ap Evan’s poetry and found nothing. I guess I’ve got to email some universities.

  • Maybe Matthew isn’t crazy!

So I’ve been researching other disappearances at Loggerheads. I went to the local village of Cadole to ask around. When I raised the subject most locals turned and walked away, as though they had just met the devil himself! But one elderly man called Benjamin Davies invited me into his house. He used to be a reporter for the BBC in the 70’s and had taped some interviews with locals. He was kind enough to play these tapes for me. I couldn’t believe what I heard. The first interview was with a pensioner called Edward Turner. Give it a listen:

    This fits Michael’s story exactly.

Then, Benjamin played me another old recording. I could barely believe what I was hearing. It was from a local vicar called Nicholas Ross.

Could it be that Michael was telling the truth???

  • I want answers!

I’m writing this blog because I want answers. I’ve tried the police, I’ve tried my local MP. I’ve written to national level politicians. I am dismissed as a loon every time. In July 2017 one of my closest friends went missing and his younger brother was sectioned. Here’s what I know. On the 10th of July 2017, my friend Daniel Turner and his younger brother Matthew went for a walk in Loggerheads Country Park. Daniel has never been seen since and Matthew told a story so bizarre that he ended up in a secure medical facility in Liverpool. He’s still rotting there. So what was Matthew’s story? Mathew claims that while he and his brother were standing by the river Alyn in one of the most beautiful parts of the park, his brother heard the sound of a wolf, but Mathew himself couldn’t hear this. What he claims happened next beggars belief. He claims his brother started speaking in rhyming couplets, without being aware of the fact he was. According to Matthew, his brother then insisted they visit Devils Gorge. This is in spite of the fact that they had only intended to spend 30 minutes at Loggerheads. You see they were on their way to visit their mum for s Sunday roast. Mathew claims that as they got closer to Devil’s Gorge Daniels right eye would momentarily turn fully black. Then finally as they arrived at Devil’s Gorge, Daniel recited a short poem in Welsh, even though he couldn’t speak a word of the language! Then… Daniel vanished into thin air. Never to be seen again. Mathew has never deviated from this story. Some think he watched his brother get abducted and had a breakdown. Some think he killed his brother. I’m starting this blog to investigate what really happened.
